« Back to Glossary Index

A search tool that uses another search engine’s data to produce its own results from the internet. A typical metasearch engine pulls off the results from several search engines, say Google and Bing, and then applies its own algorithms in most cases to re-order the results. A hotel metasearch compiles the room rates from numerous booking websites and OTAs onto a singular platform. This focuses the shoppers/users onto one site, reducing the need to browse multiple sites. Examples: Trivago and Kayak.
