Already Certified?

CRMEs are required to renew their certification every three years.

To be recertified, CRMEs must earn a minimum amount of points on the recertification application there is no exam required. All points claimed must have been earned within the past three years, since the date of initial CRME certification or last renewal. Therefore it is important that you keep track of all your activities each year even after receiving the CRME.

Certifications expire on December 31, three years from the year a person originally certified (e.g., if you certified in 2017, regardless of which month of the year, your certification is due for renewal by December 31, 2020).

Recertification notices are sent as a courtesy in the first quarter of the year in which you are due for renewal, and additional reminders are sent throughout the year. With that notice, CRMEs receive information regarding the recertification process and instructions to access the recertification application form and guidelines.

CRME or Certificate in Revenue Management - what should I do?

Here is an explanation of the difference between the training course and the certification.

The “Certificate of Revenue Management (Hospitality) is a 10-course online program for people in the hotel industry with less than 3 years’ experience in a revenue role, or for hoteliers new to the Revenue function. Participants receive the Certificate in Revenue Management (Hospitality) from HSMAI.  The cost is US$350 for Members and US$500 for non-members.  You will have access to all 10-courses for 12 months from your enrolment date so you can revisit sections of the course whenever you need to.

The CRME is a Certification meaning that HSMAI is Certifying that you are an experienced Revenue Manager capable of performing the set of functions that the global HSMAI Revenue Advisory Board have set out as being the standard for Revenue Managers.  You also need experience managing revenue to qualify. So, it’s a combination of your work experience and a study guide with an online exam you need to pass to gain the Certified Revenue Management Executive (CRME) Status.
